Alternator tension brace

I bought a 12-volt alternator from one of the major parts houses. It included a mounting bracket which mounts the unit where the generator was. This worked out fine.

It also included a tension brace, pictured below. Can anyone explain how this should be mounted?

Thanks

take out one of the bolts, one of the ones near the top/ driver side, from the timing gear cover. Slip the bolt through the slot in the bracket and reinstall the bolt. Now position the curved part of the bracket against the body of the alternator and pull toward you. Now tighten the bolt.

I could not get enough tension on the belt with that tensioner and an alternator. You need quite bit MORE tension when running an alternator. Too little and the belt will slip and burn up.

Peter,
I went out and took a pic. of my alt. brace to post, and when i looked at the pic. i saw that my brace has sliped down off the alt. to the alt. mount , it should be up on the alt. it's self:eek: [i'll fix that in the morn.].
anyway this is how i put mine on.
