Air filter

Guess it depends on how big the original unit is. I have modified several for the F1 trucks. I've used a K&N filter but now use a napa gold paper element which is cheaper.

Will a small wet/dry vac filter work as a replacement for the oil bath if it can be made to fit?

Most wet/dry filters that I have seen I don't believe have enough support to be used in an automotive application.
There are many oil bath filters that have been converted to appropriate size dry automotive filters.

Those dinky little 1 barrel air cleaners will definately choke an engine, but a big enough shopvac paper element should be okay. Even better would be the foam element wrapped around a wire cage.

Anything wrong with the oil bath?
I think foam is a bad choice for an air filter.
If you feel you must change, look up converting the oil bath to paper filter. Been done lots.
Really think you should use an automotive air cleaner on a Auto.

Martin.

Here's a paper air filter conversion that I made for my 49 Coupe. However, I ended up installing a 4 Barrel Holley and didn't use this filter. Bob
