Air compressor

I need a bigger air compressor and have found an Ingersoll Rand 220v 5 hp single stage two cylinder that puts out 14.1cfm at 90psi. I am about to start on my 41 so I need it to run a da sander and a paint gun. Will this be enough compressor? I really want to stay in the $700 range.

Mine is a Quincy 320, two cyl, two stage compressor, 5 HP 220, with an 80 gallon receiver. Almost 40 years old, Keeps up with a bead blaster.

2 stage is the way to go.
Try to find similar to what cmbrucew Has / the brand is not as important as the size , his sounds like what I have & I can run a 1" air wrench. if you go to small you will always regret it.
of course ask here on the Barn in the want section But I got mine off Craig's list Paid
$ 500.00 another spot to look is Garage journal in wanted section.
this is one time that size matters LOL / LOL

I ended up getting one off of craigslist like Bill for $550. It's an 81 gallon 2 stage 5hp. I did the calculations (according to the Internet ) where you run the compressor from 0 until it cuts off and time it and then put those numbers in a formula to get cfm. I got 21.21 cfm . If thats right it should be plenty, right?

i got a heck of a buy on my 2 stage -5hp DeVilbiss at BJ'S. was around $425.00 a few years ago, when my Quincy had a tank failure

Guys we all myself included have to slow down when we read !!

Fibber Mcgee: That sounds like the one I got who is the manufacture of yours ?

I'm going to have to go look at the compressor again but I remember the tank is made by a company called Manchester and the motor is AJAX. It's all USA made and I believe it's from the 80s. The guy I bought it from said it was used in a small shop he worked at in South Florida which kind of checks out as it has a maintenance sticker from there. When you buy off of Craigslist you never know what you're getting into but so far so good.
