AF Block, But A Bore

Rowdy

I was checking block #'s yesterday and discovered one is stamped AF. I am assuming this was the block out of the Austrailian 31 phaeton. I checked the bore to see if there was any difference in the bore size and it did not appear there was. Is this typical of any A with the AF prefix that was shipped to Australia? Thanks Rod

If it came out of an Australian car the prefix would be CA..... as they came from Canada. I have seen Blocks stamped AF with the standard bore, they originated from South America.

Thanks Bick, I was thinking it should have had the CA prefix, but was not sure. I only have detailed info on the car while it was in this general area. Story was it was brought from Australia to the U.S. in the ealy 70's and sat in a warehouse in Omaha, before being bought by a guy in North Platte. It was restored in the mid 80's and the guy moved to Iawa where he passed away and his widow sold it there. This being about 10 years ago. It was RHD, but not alot of things like original engine to the car was given much consideration during the restoration from what I can tell. Rod

Most RHD 'A's in US come from Sth America but are often attributed to Australia when being sold.
Sth American RHD's are US export cars that were shipped knocked down & assembled there.
Australian 'A's were Canadian fully knocked down vehicles with some body panels often manufactured in Australia except some '28'29 closed types.
An Aussie '30 Phaeton[ there were no '31 types] would have a lot of wood framing & be a few inches longer in rear seat area
