Aermore whistle value

I have an original Aermore whistle and valve that fits between the exhaust manifold and the muffler. I am thinking about selling it but I have no idea what it might be worth. The valve needs some work as it is stuck. Any suggestions?

Generally speaking, working ones fetch in the $250-$300 range. The whistle value by itself is about $150.00 +/-. Do you have the correct foot lever for it? Those are worth quite a bit themselves.

Just be sure to check the size of the valve, they were made to made different cars. The whistle also comes in different length, longest I have seen is 29 inches no way it will fit a model A. The whistle is still made http://www.snydersantiqueauto.com/3641 for $225.
But the valve is the thing that makes this rare. I agree $250 to $375 in good shape.
I have 3.

Mine came off my 28 sport coupe. The valve is a little stiff and I don't have the foot pedal. I was offered 150 but I think 250 may be more in line with what you guys are saying. Opinions?

I bought my 2 about 5 years ago for $150 each, with the valve, but no foot pedal. I bought one from ebay and one from a swap meet.

He Guy's .I have a original Aermore with no dent,s and working for 125,-- ex Parcel post.( no valve )
Cheers Gerard

He is my experience with them. The closer they are to the exhaust manifold, the louder they are. The Model-A valve is not being reproduced and that one makes them much better IMO due to the valve's better way to close off (divert) the exhaust stream. Also, they are easier to install since they do not require cutting or surgery to the exhaust pipe. On the foot pedal, what you are looking for is the type that does not lock but has the long arm. The locking type were for exhaust cut-outs that were meant to stay open for long periods of driving.

Personally, I have one on one of my Model-Ts, and the pedal is under my wife's foot, ...because that is where SHE wanted it mounted. Personally I think an Aermore is like "medicine" ....something that is only tolerable in small doses! She likes to "toot it" when we are on tours but it requires the driver's ability to throttle-in at the right moment while the pedal is depressed to get that true "train whistle" sound. It gets really old for me after awhile!! ;)

I have a bracket that mounts on the end of my tail pipe, luckily there was no cutting required, it just goes on and there is a ubolt that holds it on. Then I have a wire that runs on a pully so I can pull it to make the whistle go off. I believe the bracket was custom made by someone in our Club years ago.

Here's a pix of the manifold/pipe valve as seen on the ahooga site. Uh oh. Maybe large.

Joe, that is identical to my valve.

Those type of valves leak so easily. I took mine off because of that reason. I put one on the end of my tailpipe and it hooks on with a muffler clamp. Turned the whistle towards the front of the car and you cant hardly see it back there. It works great too.

Tom....

I run 2 aermore whistles with the original valve and have never had a problem.
I must say that on the few times my car has backfired, it is a very unique and melodious sound, unlike any other backfire you may hear.
