advice 1950 Ford Custom sedan

Here in the UK I am contemplating the purchase of a 1950 Ford Custom de Luxe 4 door sedan. Some time back the original engine block became porous and this has been replaced, so no numbers matching car:)

Is there anything in particular that I should look at ? Do they suffer from any inherent problems.

All advice much appreciated:)
 
To my knowledge Ford did not tie engine numbers to chassis numbers back then as engine replacement was common. Ford had a large contract engine exchange program for this reason. As a '50 has a flathead as original equipment you should post this in the Early V8 forum. I'm sure you'll get some good answers there. Good luck!
