Adjustable lifters

Hey guys at the point to assemble valve train. I am running a Comp Cam and was wondering which adj. lifters are the best. Thanks guys

Johnson hollow adjustables are the old standby. You could use the ones from Isky,or the ones for the 8n tractors but they are solids and weigh considerably more than the original (non adjustable) lifters, or the hollow adjustables. You can usually find original Johnson hollows on E bay. Just have them refaced and your good to go.

There is a Co. in Austrailar the makes a good set of hollow adjustable lifters. Red's headers have them and probably others. They are expensive, about $225.00 a set but that are good I've used a couple of sets, every lifter has the same feel to the screw. Walt

They are made by Flatattack and they are $325 on their website. Excellent lifters. Red's doesn't show them anymore.

CAUTION!!!if you buy cheep junk "NEW" adjustable lifters..best to have the hardness cked...reputable dealer sold to me a set of cheap lifters in an expensive national brand box..cheap lifters were soft and lasted a couple hundred miles. what a mess..counterfit junk is every where!..ck, ck ,ck and reck your parts!

Has anyone on this forum tried TRW brand adjustable lifters? If so were they any good. I bought a set 20 years ago but never used them. Marv

The original TRW's are most likely the Johnson line. Johnson was an OEM supplier to all vehicle mfr's!

The only tappets we use today are from Johnson still. Never an issue so far! They are the only ones we trust here!

We sell/use numerous sets still during the course of the year!

Thanks, Gary in N.Y.

P.S. These aren't the "lightweights" however, they are the conventional lifters!

Spend a few bucks more and have a set of stock steel lifters put in.
You don't have to worry about which ones are the right ones and if they are going to loosen up or wear out in a 100 miles.
Set them and forget them.

GOSFAST thanks for the info. My TRW lifters do not have slots in them. They are prety much solid with the adjuster on top. Marv
