Adjustable lifter removal

Got a couple of motors that I was stripping down prior to junking(Big freeze chunks missing from a couple of cylinders) Missing main caps Etc. Noticed there are adjustable lifters that I am trying to remove. It's an old 21 studder. Can get the adjusting screws loose but lifters don't move. Should I
1. Be patient with penetrating oil.
2 Remove adjusting screws and slide hammer them out.
3. Don't bother, there not worth the effort?

Only paid $28.00 for two motors so I can get my money back but would like to salvage the lifters.

Thanks ML

Heat and oil, I have gotten into using automatic trans oil... If you're not going to salvage the cam, use a chisel between the lifters and cam... I would NOT use a slide hammer... Karl

And see if you can rotate the cam once timing gear is removed or destroyed. If you can, it will start all the lifters up and allow you to pull the cam and drive out lifters with a dowel from below. Valves can be cut off in chamber with a bolt cutter to facilitate...
Don't unscrew the adjusters...they don't like extra movement. Real Johnsons are valuable enough to be worth some sweat.
