accomadations near hershey

Hershey Lodge was great when the kids were little, wonder what it cost us to stay there for 25 years? Howard Johnsons is just fine now. Bob

Most are booked a yr in advanced, you will be lucky to find 1 in Hershey proper. 3-5 day minimum too. good luck. ken ct.

I think it depends how long you'll be there and how far you want to drive. Most things close by will be taken long ago, though you might find cancellations-and things will be priced accordingly. Harrisburg's pretty close, and, for a little drive, something north on Rt 15 wouldn't be too bad.

I live 60 miles north of Harrisburg so Hershey takes me about 90 minutes-lots of motels around here, too,

Re: accomodations near hershey

About 10 years ago, three of us stayed in Denver, PA, about an hour east of Hershey. The rate was low, which was attractive. The motel was originally built in the 50's and hadn't been upgraded since. The night manager gal met us in camo pajamas, and informed us she didn't give discounts for AARP, AAA or any other initials, cash only, up-front. She handed us our 3 towels, each and said they were all we got for our visit.
She then warned us in no uncertain terms that we were only to park in our designated spot, or she would have to come down and haul our butts out to move! There was black growing stuff on the floor of the shower, and my wife has thrown away better looking facecloths.

Be cautious of your choice is all I'm saying, and don't believe all the glowing reviews on-line.

My wife and I have stayed at the Hotel Hershey for the last 12 years.
Its the most pleasant and I guess most expensive hotel in the area.
Go online and see if it is of your interest.
There is complimentary shuttle service to the swap meet fields.

There is a Penn State home football game (vs Michigan) on October 12th. You might be surprised, but that is definitely going to affect hotel availability in the Hershey/Harrisburg area. You will need to take that into account as well.

Hershey is on my "bucket" list. When my daughter went to DeSales Univ near Quakertown and worked at Hershey doing skits on the trolley she had a boyfriend from Hershey who she no longer talks to AND won't let me contact him. The things you have to do to keep family harmony. I still may try to contact him though.

You may have to find a place in East Harrisburg near the airport which is about twenty minutes from the car show.

The best accomadations are on the flea market field --it doesn't matter if it is sleeping in the front seat of a car ---location is most important.

Holiday Inn, Hummelstown, PA. Very nice and very handy to the car show.

Just called here and they said they don't start taking reservations for 2014 until November 2013 and the room rate is $204 per night. Is that a normal/reasonable rate for the area for the show?

The Holiday Inn Express in Hummelstown for a time period Wed-Sun later this month quotes $131 per night-so you be the judge what is "normal/reasonable" I guess. Keep in mind it's a prime time of year, Carlisle is just the week before and there is a home PennState game that weekend.

I don't begin to understand the variables. I live about 1.75 hours away and just drive iot-still working but I manage to get there a weekday and a Saturday. Driving my wife's Prius, it's not too expensive and i get to tour the scenic Susquehanna valley.
