Picked up an add on oil gauge for the A. It must have satvface down on a shelf the. Inlet pipe is covered on dust and fibers. Any suggestions on how to safely clean the oil inlet pipe without damaging the innards?

Out plowing its to early to be plowing 
I think WD-40 sprayed in the pipe would clean it, the gauge is made for oil even carb cleaner, brake clean or such would not hurt it .
