Abandoned Shoebox Trail...

One of my favorite backroad adventures is exploring the area out where these cars are scattered along an ancient wagon trail literally minutes from one another in gold rush country. This is a long forgotten, seldom travelled back country trail that used to link two small towns. It is now hard to find, seldom travelled and brimming with historical significance that few ever get to experience. Last weekend we spent two nights camping in the area and I got these photos to share here, at the roads mid point we where moving large rocks by hand to get the vehicle through. This is the "Old West" at it's finest.

Great pictures. Thanks for posting them. Looks like a 50 Ford and a Meteor if my old eyes aren't deceiving me. Some good small parts left on them too.

Did you bring tools along to salvage the goodies? In the next month or so I will be bringing home a 50 Ford body and frame that has been laying on its left side for many years. Right side and front looks ok. Likely the left side will be a total loss. Hopefully we can get ot loaded without too much damage to the right side. Going to be a challange without axles under it. Jason... Looks like the Thompson River area, or maybe the Fraser, anyway dry desert area... Dale in Peachland:)

The dash, steering wheel and even the left dash end trim piece look pretty good to me,completely restorable.Do you ever wonder how these rides end up there?
