AA Truck serial number .

In one of Steve Plucker's articles, much the same was stated as far as the period of only a single "A", but as Stickshift said it doesn't do much to explain the number on John's early 1930 though:

"Starting with engine number A26268, a February 16, 1928 engine, the “AA” prefix was dropped due to the fact that all truck clutch springs were the same weight as the car and commercial vehicles. On May 15, 1928, the Indianapolis Ford Service Letter indicated that all the truck engines were now being equipped with a 455 pound spring and that the engine numbers on such motors were being prefixed with the letters “AA” again".

The full number is STAR 2855753 STAR which after a bit of math gives an 18 th Feb 1930 engine completion date . Neil Wilson is of the opinion it was a mis stamp on the engine or frame .

John in same place and weather Suffolk County England .

Totally agree John with the mis stamp idea, something happened and back in the day no one really cared and it really did not make any difference. A or AA someone had a good work truck.
How many of us would know if our modern had a mis stamp in the vin #
I am with ya though would be interesting to find out why :) if they could talk
