A vote for a Digital Judging Standards

From this distance away, it seems that what is occurring here is just what is happening across America. Some folk have worked hard and paid dearly for something and then others want exactly the same thing without working for it or paying for it. "Just to make it fair for everybody".

Vince and Mr. Mason have shown the intellect, knowledge and courage in this discussion!

I'm going back to bed.

See if I feel better later.

Alright, I'll make a deal. I will put my site backup...but...I will need YOU to do something. I need photos of parts. Lets say 10 parts. Is there a bad repop(or good) part you have? send me two photos..the bad (or good) repop and the good original. Something in the standards that you don't understand? Send me photos showing the changes over the production period explaining the differences. Know of a 'messtoration'..send a photo of it along with a photo of how it should have been done. You get the idea. 10 parts total not 10 parts each...I'll let you know when I've received them by putting my site back up, along with your photos and credits. The photos must be sharp, well lit, in focus. Photos must be of a usable size. So large. Don't send me blur-o-grams or thumbnails. The parts must be clean and finished looking, not greasy masses of rusted junk. Also they must not be photos of parts posted on other sites or my old site. ( I put up a tool page, and now there are tool pages on almost every site). They must be of parts not shown elsewhere. They must be YOUR photos..not stolen from other sites...fwiw,jm

If you want to write a one page article..that would work to. Also, Marco, Steve plucker, Vince, Tom Wesenberg, Brent, anybody with a site of their own...the usual contributors...you guys aren't allowed to send anything.

'nother rule. My site is for the perservation/restoration to original condition. I already have a couple articles on modifications and don't want any more. So, no 'upgrades', just original...thanks...fwiw,jm

Will do. Don't hold your breath. My guess it will be a long while before I get 10. Hope I'm wrong...fwiw,jm

Steve,

I took some this afternoon. I will send them as soon as I get a reply to my Private Message asking for Jim's email address. Perhaps he will post it here too, to make it easier for folks to send those photos in.

Well I've received a couple photos with the caveat of 'i'm not sure if this is reproduction or not'. This is the point I'm trying to make. If you're not sure, you need to do the research to find out. Check the standards, parts lists, look at original cars, ask people, buy/borrow parts. Become the expert on that part. I don't know every part. I can't become the expert for you. I can't determine orginality for you. It won't be easy, it may not be cheap, It will be an education. I will help when I can, but I'm not doing the research for you. Become one of the 'they'. I'm offering to be the your public voice, not the researcher. I'm offering a website for those who don't have the time, knowledge or whatever to write their own html, and publish it...fwiw,jim

Everyone seems to think we can simply spit out all this stuff. They don't realize it eats up a ton of time. Several folks ask me questions. Sometimes I can answer and sometimes I'll go out of my way to find out. For example, Pluck has done several excellent research projects as everyone here SHOULD know. Well, sometimes he asks me a question relating to one of these projects. Although seemingly simple, I've spent as much as three or more hours trying to come up with a solid answer. Think about that. Fifteen "simple" questions could eat up forty or more hours. Some folks think I/we should volunteer MORE time because we are selfishly "hording all that information and knowledge".
