Since were talking tricks and T coils can I ask about a little rumor I heard years ago?
A guy I worked with talked about wireing a live T-coil to the body of a car (any car) to
shock whoever touched the car and act as a theft deturent or just a practical joke.
Not knowing too much about T's at the time I thought that sounded cool but asked no
further questions. Have you guys heard of this before?

BTW The next T buzz box I see I'm gonna whip on of these up. Thanks again Bob A.

My dad says that he once used a T-coil in a similar fashion as a practical joke. Apparently he ran two wires side by side down a bench and then to the coil which was hooked to a switch and then a battery. When his friends were all sitting on the bench he threw the switch and they all jumped up pretty quick.

the original point was that if your car broke down and you needed a 911 fix to get it home this was a viable option. not to replace your coil with a different one.
you did not offend me at all i am learning like everyone else here.

Note "this wont get you home" It will not work you just cant run a gas engine without some kind of control on the ignition timing. just aint going to happen.:eek: Hate to be blunt but that is just the way I see it followed by a big fire.

are you saying you cant run an engine with a fixed ignition timing with no advance or retard?

no that is not what I am saying for example the timing on my dragster is locked solid via msd crank trigger I crank and run it ar 38 degerees I sent you a PM

worked at a equipment dealer in the 40s had a kit to convert a t coil to a fence charger. used a test tube, marble, piece of cotton, brackets,etc. the marble would close the points which would bounce the marble back to repeat the cycle. would hook it up to the seat in front of the counter, with quick results. scotty
 
The general T coil idea was packaged and marketed in relatively recent time. KD sold an exactly equivalent setup within the last 20 years, buzzbox coil packaged in a modern plastic setup with all jumpers included, sold as an emergency road repair gizmo. I have seen a few at fleamarkets. THis 1980 Pop Mechanics is the only online info I could find quickly:

I am just upset that i spent the money for lockout swicth, and to know that a buzz box will drive off,with my car, bob what about a test look on youtube and link it to us for all the nay sayers al

Yes Jeff you have it right.
I will post pictures of my '31 coupe here in Holbrook N.Y. operating with the Buzz coil for all the non-believers.

Thought I'd bring this post back up to show an actual pic of the KD tool.
Except for the plastic box, a Model T coil with some wire and alligator clips is pretty much what it is. Tou could probably build an all-semi modern alternate tech one from an old add-on Multiple spark discharge unit and a modern type coil...
