A Timing Cover on B engine

Hi, We're putting a B engine in a '31 A and it looks like we need to use the A cover to accomodate the front engine mount. Am I correct in thinking this is the best route? Thanks in advance. Bill

Depend on what distributor you are going to use. If you are using an A distributor you need
an A cover if you use a B distributor you need a 32 B cover.

Does'nt sound at all right. The only reason to change the '32B front cover to an A is to get a Top Dead Center timing when used on a '31 chassis. The early '28 cover and the model 46 of '33-34 will not work without grief either. Must be something else going on that is not stated. Good Luck: Fred A

I knew about the timing pin location, but the cover I took off a B engine didn't have the two mounting lugs anywhere near the Model A location. These are an inch or so higher and wider. Maybe the cover is a 33 or 34? A wide strap type mount about 21 inches was on it.

Thanks Bob C! Problem Solved!! That link showed the cover I have as being a Model 40/46 33 or 34 cover. I'll try and find a B cover from a 32!
Nice work, Vince; those images are awesome!

I think Sacramental Vintage Ford has a kit for installing a Model "B" engine in a Model "A".
The items are in the Hot Rod section of the Model "A" catalog. I can not find their catalog right now. The items for this conversion are with the float a motor section.

This might be a faster route to travel.

Let me know
