A short some place?

Car won't start. Battery charged. Test light shows current every where it should be. Turn lights on and press on the starter and lights almost go out. Have tried different starter and starter switch and checked cable from battery to starter and it is OK.
What do I try next? Thank you very much for any suggestions.

The starter might be stuck on the flywheel. Put the car in high gear, with the key off, and rock the car backward and forward. If you hear a sharp "clunk" that will be the starter releasing. Then try starting it again.

I agree sounds like the battery , put volt meter on the battery and try to start , read the voltage .

Try turning the engine over with the hand crank. If you don't have a crank put it in gear and try pushing the car. If it won't turn over that would explain what you are encountering.

The more I tthink about it, the more I think it's a bad battery. Just because you charged it doesn't mean it's good. I went through a similar problem last summer. Same symptoms. It was a bad battery. But like Charlie, I still suggest trying to turn the engine over by hand also.

I think having a bit more information might help others troubleshoot what's going on:

Does the starter crank the engine, or does it not turn at all?

"Test light shows current every where it should be" - where, exactly did you check for current?
Do you have a multimeter? It'd be a good idea to check for 6V at the following places:
With the ignition switch OFF:
- starter
- both terminal box nuts
- both sides of the coil
With the ignition switch ON and the points open (slip a piece of paper between them):
- the point arm

Do you have spark from the coil wire?
