A new scammer

I hate to do this but I've waited 2 months for payment and received nothing
but lies from a guy who seemed so sincere that I rebuilt a Lincoln carb for
him and shipped it before getting payment. This person convinced me just
before Hershey this year that he had to get a Lincoln running in time for
"The big show" at Hershey. He rushed me the carb I rebuilt it and tested it and rushed it back in two days so he could meet his deadline....which he did.
This persons name is Dean Kline owner of Klines Automotive Center in
Grantville Pa.
I'm sending this case to collection and the Pa. States Attorney General.
I have full documentation including a recording of him assuring me the
payment was on the way....that was 3 weeks ago.

It's a shame that, when you extend that courtesy, you don't get the same consideration by the others involved. I hope you reach a swift and satisfactory conclusion.

Wow Charlie,

You've always been so honest and up front with me.
Sorry to hear that this _____ bag is giving you the shaft.
Does Fordbarn have a Wall of Shame for guy like this? If not, maybe Ryan might put one on here.

Theres always a bad apple in the bunch.Hope you get the $$ out of them/ Got stuck same way yrs ago and was for a pair of them.Learned my lesson on that one. Never going to happen again.ken ct.

Charlie, hopefully you get your case resovled soon. You have been most gracious to myself and my dad and it is a shame to see this sort of thing happen to good people. Best of luck.

Very sorry to hear this, unfair to you and unlawful by him. Good luck with the law, history says they are too busy for the little guys like us. On the HAMB we have a page with a list of all of the dirt bags that screwed members and what they did. It's a damn shame that one may have to be created here. Hope you the best in getting positive results.

Well, could turn up the heat? He's got a Facebook page, just Google, Klines Automotive Center in Grantville,PA. If he's not paying for a specific reason and is not sharing that with Charlie, I am guessing what ever the reason, wouldn't be good enough because Charlie goes out of his way to be helpful wether or not money exchanges hands, and always makes things right.

Although I posted this fellas Facebook page, maybe best for Charlie to make that call, I don't want to jeopardize the possibility of this guy paying Charlie or getting in the way of his legal course of action. It just when you utilize a website like the Fordbarn over a long period of time the names and comments of certain individuals become like family wether or not you have met them face to face. When one of thise folks are wrong'd we are all affected because we have listened and sought help and gotten knowledge and advice, and now they are beyond helpful, like Old Henry, Walt, Ken CT, Charlie NY, Vic Piano, I realize no one is perfect and at times we will have differences in opinions but overall these are all good people that mean well.

Hey Charlie,
You don't say that this guy is/is not a fordbarn member and whether that is how he contacted you? I ask because if he used fordbarn in his process, it would be good for all of us to know! I've done business with you for a long time now and hope that this guys behavior does not change the great help/contributions that you give to us!
Sounds like you have this situation in hand and have taken the necessary actions/steps to achieve positive results. You are only one of three great guys that I've known, in this old car 'hobby' that are the kind that would extend service/goods BEFORE receiving payment , in good faith. Thanks to you for all you've done for us,eh!!

ht and everyone,
Dean Kline found about me thru a FORD BARNer, who shall remain
nameless. The FORD BARNer did his best to intercede on my behalf.....Dean
Kline lied to him just as he lied to me. It's one thing to lie to a stranger but quite
another to lie to an acquaintance.

I've learned more on Ford Barn than any place I could think of. (oop's - don't end sentence with a preposition-my English teacher) I've made many friends both on line and face-to-face. I trust the regulars on here with my carbs, transmissions or any other item that is beyond my ability to repair or restore.

Charlie is one of those Barners that goes out of his way to do the right thing. He did a transmission for me some years ago and after installing it, I had an unusual sound coming from the case. We telephoned back and forth several time, parts sent etc but no solution. Low and behold, Charlie and his wonderful wife Alice showed up at my door to do repairs on site. Now Charlie does not live next door, next town - he lives in another state! He solved the problem and made a friend for life. Now don't get me wrong, Charlie could not be running around to everyone's garage or he would be out of business in a hurry - this was one of those unusual and frustrating times that he wanted to solve the problem as much for himself as for me. We both learned something that will help if we look inside another transmission again.

Trust is a wonderful thing to have between folks that have similar interests. It makes working on thse old Fords that much more enjoyable. Sorry Charlie extended his trust and was taken advantage of buy someone in the old car hobby.

I ask myself "What are we going to do when all the guys like Charlie with his vast knowledge of our hobby are gone ? , we are screwed . Charlie helped me out fixing my "new rebuilt" carb I picked up, rebuilt it correctly ,sent it back , then called me to make sure it was allset a week later ! guys like the looser that is stiffing him will get his . what goes around --comes around . the younger guys in this hobby like me would be lost without fine honerable men like Charlie in NY MP

Charlie,
What a Scumbag! You jump through hoops to help him and he sticks it to you. There is no room for people like that in this hobby.

When I was having flywheel issues with my `51 F1 you wrote that you wished we lived closer, you would fix the problem for me. That speaks volumes for you...

Don't forget the Better Business bureau.

How about we all start emailing and facebooking them. Just ask the question "is there any truth to the rumor".

Is there a rating service in the PA area? Contact the PA atty General.

Tom,
I certainly endorse the facebook idea.
I'm in the midst of a hospital visit but will be home in time for Thanksgiving
at which time if no payment is received I will let the dogs out !
My deepest appreciation for all support I've received here as well as PM's
and emails received personally.
Thank you all again
and
Happy Thanksgiving,
