Hi all. Just got home from picking up the 29 CCPU in Florida.
When we got to Florida to load it, we discovered a cracked leaf on the rear spring, and some really worn out and rusty rear shackles.
On the way to Kentucky, we took a side trip to Mike's in Maysville, Georgia, to get some parts and goodies. I mentioned the broken spring to him, and Mike immediately called Bentley's Antique Auto Service, located just next door. He explained the problem, and told them that we were passing through. We were told to bring the pickup over, with the new 10 leaf spring I bought, and they would see what they could do.
Long story short, within 2 hours I had a new rear leaf spring installed, new shackles on the real axle, and even some little fiddly bits like missing bolts replaced!
Total kudos to the folks at both Mike's AND Bentley's!
Mike personally helped me with my parts "Wish List" ,and even talked me out of spending some money on parts that wouldn't work properly on my truck.
Also a shout out to Scotty, the mechanic at Bentley's who installed the spring! I would have had an AWFUL time trying to do it here without a spring spreader!
ANYONE passing through Northeast Georgia owes it to themselves to visit Mikes!
