A engine in T's?

Were Model A/B engines or engine transmissions ever installed into Model T's? I might be interested in doing so. Any information there?
Thanks
Jim

About a year ago, I met a guy south of Columbus, OH that was mounting A engine blocks to T pans and transmissions. There was a bit of machine work involved, but he said it was worth it for the extra horsepower. I never asked him how the drive train held up.

A couple of problems would be, the stress of added power. Ecspecialy if you hop it up, but this can be resolved.
The model T lacks front brakes. So with the added power of a stock A engine and even more, a slightly hopped up engine. You need to stop.
I've been going over this in my head, over and over again. Hahaha

I was just thinking about Model A engine/transmission, rear axle. Put some brakes on the front and be happy. Probably too much work. It always is.

a 26/27 t body almost bolts on to an a chassis
i think it would be alot less work to do it that way, instead of transplanting all the a drivetrain into a t frame
tk

I was going to do the same thing. There is a lot involved to swap A stuff into a T chassis. After a while I realized that I probably won't be anywhere that I would go over 55. With a little work, different trans(if you can find one),,,etc you can go that fast in a T.
My biggest issue is no front brakes.
What is the Trac width of a Model T and A

I am putting my 23T on an A chassis, the only thing you have to do is drill new holes and pinch the back of the frame rails to match the T body.

I am doing a 27 T Roadster on an A chassis.

As said above, it just requires new bolt holes, narrowing the last foot of the chassis to clear the sub rails and reworking the brake and clutch pedals a bit for foot room.

Mine is a 40's style track roadster, so LOTS of other mods are being done, but aren't NEEDED to do a 27 on A ........... I just can't do ANYTHING the easy way :o)

The idea of putting a T body on an A chassis sounds pretty good, but then what does a person do about the title and registration? Seems that it would open a big can of worms, at least here in California.

My thoughts at one time was to,
Have Model T roadster with Model A front and rear ends and adapt early Ford juice brakes. .
A engine and trans.
To me 25 and earlier Ts look best with a T frame.26-27 Ts can get away with A frames, but my opinoin is, they look best with T frames also.

The car on the right is the Hi Halfhill car. All A running gear on T frame.

I am in the middle of this project right now. 26' T coupe, A engine, T trans, T rearend, nissan pickup rear brakes, 27' chev disk wheels. So far I've got more hours into the pan than anything else. I'd love to here from anyone whose done this before. I've had lots of T's and wanted to try something different, but it wouldnt be a T without the planetary trans! Dave

You should stroke that T engine to 4-1/4 stroke and little higher compression head and little bigger carb and you will be ready to rumble.
I know it is a lot of work so I understand it not easy no matter what you do.

Very nice work as always:D
What do you do about a real trans behind the T?

Here is an easier way to go fast in a T. This is built by a guy in our club. He casts the heads and build the rest. Check it out. Kind of makes you wonder where all of the those horses came from in a T.
