I am thinking of putting a/c in my 30 Tudor Sedan, problem I am having is the emergency brake handle is dead smack in the way. has anyone or has anyone put a a/c under dash unit in a 30 tudor and if so do you have pictures and what did you do about the emergency brake handle?

I'm going to adapt one of the new electric ones for our Tudor. It'll go under the rear seat. No pump to hang on the engine and I'll plumb the vents under the seats and up the side panels - rather than adding that knee knocker under the dash..

Curious about this "electric one". Have any photos or weblinks?

Hello Tom,
Just curious - did you happen to buy your Model A from a man in Palmer, Texas? Your profile mentions you are in Mansfield, Tx. My neighbor passed away and his son sold his red coupe to a man in your town.

The unit who's link is in Post #5 is rated at 550 watts. That equates to 46 amps at 12 volts. I am not sure if my alternator can handle that. Plus, the startup current is 75 amps, which my battery could probably handle.

Some extra room is needed for the electric compressor. I don't have that room in my car. It probably means that you need a coupe or roadster with a trunk.

AC experts say that the cold air must be directed towards the passengers or it is not effective. I am not sure if that is the case with the electric unit. Plus, it would depend on how well the car is insulated.

My thoughts were to gut the tank and install the AC evaporator there. I am not sure if I want to do that because the cowl tank is such an integral part of the Model A experience.

Yes I bought that coupe in Palmer from the owners son after he passed. MC Garrett , I am a member of the Ft. Worth Model A club and know a few members from the Dallas club. Do you belong to either club. I would love for you to see how I finished the car. Mr Dickinson would be happy.

Tom, just sent you an email. Since I put some sweat in your car, I can't wait to see it! :)
