A bone heaven

The first picture with the crane is awesome and really sad all in one! That's a Chicago Speed Crane! Manitowoc crane company, before they started building cranes bought them out and used there design to start making cranes. Previous to that Manitowoc built war ships.

I got my 1st Model A in 1958 when I was 15. There were many wrecking yds. in So. Cal. that had rows of Model A's, especially in the Gardena area. I got my 2nd Model A in 62 a late 30 CCPU. I needed an orig. horn & bought a SW for $15. The wrecking yd. I bought the horn at had a 30 tudor that he just bought from the orig. owner who rear ended another car. That tudor had 15,000 orig. miles & other then a little front end damage was perfect. He wouldn't sell it though. Two yrs later I went back to buy some things & he had sold every Model A & all his parts to a San Diego Model A club.

The guys here in Fresno told me of a sedan of some sort was made of 1 car hit in the front & one car that was hit in the rear. Bodies and frame were cut ih half and re-welded, and was never painted matching colors. The car was in many club tours and parades for many years. Bill W.

Just think how many of those cars were scrapped that were much more complete and in better shape (cosmetically and mechanically than many of the basket case projects many members on the barn start out with!
