Roadster62 -- Does a B flywheel bolt on to an A crankshaft without modification?
Bud -- I want to use all Ford parts without any adapters in the spirit of TROG pre 1953 rules. I have been told that you have to install gears in right order to make the build smooth. Van Pelts book should set me on the right path.
62pan -- I plan to use the book like a road map, but first I will sit down and read it a few times. As I understand it is all about the order you install gears that is the trick to a smooth 39/B trans build.
If I decide to keep the 39 top loader trans for a future build, do you have any suggestions on a good gear set that will work for this B case build? I know that all 40 - 48 gear sets will work, but are any better in keeping the gear ratios close to help RPM during shifts. Not real good at wording this stuff, but I am asking if there is a close ratio gear set?
