99A oil pan question

I'm assembling a 99A using an 8BA pump. I think the required pick up for this combination is the 8RT pickup, and that's what I have. In attempting to install the oil pan, I discovered there's a baffle that interferes with the pickup and won't let the pan sit down on the pan rail. Is it OK to just remove the baffle, or should I relocate it so that it clears the pickup screen? Thanks,

Bob

Thanks, Bruce. I'll probably remove it.

From experience I strongly advise you trim the baffle to fit as was previously suggested.
That baffle is in there for a good reason. Remove it and travel up a long and steep incline and you may very well starve your engine.
Take off from a dead stop to quick ... same thing.
Take the time - trim the baffle. You know the old adage "Do it once, do it right".

Your point is well taken. I'd considered trying to trim it or relocate it, but it hits right over the center of the pickup screen, whether I moved it fore or aft it would be so close to the front or rear of the pan that it wouldn't be effective. There's no hills in South Louisiana, and with 100 hp in an AV8, I'm probably not going to be accelerating hard enough for the oil to leave the pickup high and dry!:D
