94 Carb

39 STD

In my 39 I recently put a Offy Regular Duel intake w/ a pair of rebuilt 94s, model 59.
At first I had the rear carb blocked off with a solid gasket, between carb & intake. No fuel line connected to rear. But I did have the linkage connected to both carbs. Run good on the front carb and the linkage worked smooth without any binding.
So yesterday I decide to get the rear carb into the game. I raised the carb just high enough to replace the solid gasket with the correct one. Added the fuel line & started in up. Now since the addition of fuel to the rear carb the accelerator pump rod is binding and not come back to the same idle all the time. If I snap the gas pedal it'll close to idle but if I let off the pedal slowly then it binds at a very fast idle.. What next add a spring to the accelerator rod to help raise it up?

What you need is a

CARB LINKAGE-TORSION BASE SPRING
This goes on the throttle shaft of the second carb.....you have the "look" don't muddle it up with a bunch of modified screen door springs......I bought mine from vintagespeed.com ......his part # is CL-35 I think.......works great...good luck,.....Matt in Alameda

I wanted to use those return springs on my 3x2 setup but, my linkage drops down instead of up and is backwards for the springs to work. I had to use an old screen door spring to get the carbs to return to idle. ;)

Thanks for the replies. I have already got everything working smooth again.
Removed the top of the "BAD" 94 and went to the hardware store. Got a light spring that fits on the pump rod inside the carb top. Reinstalled & everything is good to go :D.
I just can't believe that adding fuel to the system would bind up the works, but it did.
