Just put a new 94 from DC on my 8CM. Runs well through all ranges except it
wont Idle correctly. Sometimes it returns to correct idle and is ok . Mostly it
wont idle down completely and it lopes, up and down.

Any one else had any experience with DC carbs.

Al so how far above idle before idle circuits quit working ?

Thanks

Does your engine have any vacuum operated devices or say an added PCV system? It sounds like an intermittent manifold pressure vacuum leak. Also, does your engine use the load-o-matic distributor or something else? There could be a small fuel leak in the carb but a person would have to look down the throat while its running to confirm that. I assume the idle port needle valves have already been adjusted for best idle.

The Mercury 8CM originally used the Holley 885 carb so I've never run one on the 8BA type 94.

I too am not happy with the imported 94 from DC. I had to use my original throttle plate because of the Fordomatic. I had to use the linkage at the carb from my old 94. I also had to replace my choke cable because it was too short to reach the correct attachment. So in essence, I have half a new carb for $300. I should have had my old 94 rebuilt by a knowledgable mechanic. Live and hopefully learn!

Sent my 97 to Uncle Max...what I got back looked brand new. Only had to turn the idle speed screw 1/8th turn and it's been purring ever since.

actually got this carb from van pelt in ohio. Suppost to be a Carpenter carb.
Put the ole carb on car and it runs and idles great. Contacted Van Pelt but no return response so far.

Tried to contact Daytona parts for a new power valve for old carb but no hook up on the phone . They might be part of the hurricane.

I purchased one of the 94's from DC and installed it on my '50. Ran fine right out of the box! I used it as a spare while Charlie/NY rebuilt my original 94. Now have the original back on my '50. It runs great! Thanks Charlie!
