8BA Water pumps for crab dist

OK I'm far enough along and looking at the front of 8BA engine, I have an early wide belt crank pulley that will line up with early pumps and clear the crab distributor I'm using. Can I use the new early pumps with the roller bearings if I block the bypass holes in block ? Going in a 37 Tudor. Thanks Zeke

And from memory...if you go to early heads and gaskets, you can ignore that hole entirely, though you will have some plugging to do up top. This will substantially shorten the engine and make your life easier in a slant-radiator Ford.
