8BA intake on a 59A

Can someone explain in detail how to install an 8BA intake onto a 59 motor?
I've read that it's as simple as installing the 46-48 fuel pump stand and breather and plugging the two holes in the front of the intake.
What about the breather in the oil pan? Can that stay?
How about the fuel pump rod? Does it come out? Does the bushing get plugged?
Just looking for a definite installation guide.
Thank you,
Joe

Unless you are installing an old engine in a later vehicle, I don't see the advantage. You need the early manifold for generator and fan mounting.

The generator mounting is not the issue. generator mounts the same, either intake.
The 59A fuel pump stand will fit, but the fuel pump won't clear the the intake runners on the stock 8BA intake.
If you are using an after market aluminum intake the 59A fuel pump will probably clear.
You could use the 8BA pump stand & pump, but will have to manufacture a pump rod.
The 8BA pump rod is longer & a larger diameter. 8BA rod will not fit the small diameter bushing in the 59A block.

If you get past the fuel pump issues, then you can plug the draft tube & fill tube holes.

The intake is an Offenhauser and is part of a Camden blower set up I purchased. I would like to install it that way if it's possible so I don't have to buy another intake.

If you run an electric fuel pump use the 59A pump stand & install a block off plate in place of the pump.

I would think with the Camden a stock fuel pump would be insufficient.

The Holley 4160 that came with the blower set up requires 5-7 1/2 lbs. I'm trying to work with what I have. I would love to put 2-97's on top, but the price tag is a little heavy.

I don't think the stock fuel pump will fit behind the blower.

As far as the intake install goes, I still need some input on the installation.
With an electric pump set up, what happens to the fuel pump rod?
What do I do with the vent in the oil pan? Can it stay or does it have to get blocked?

Thank you,
Joe

With an electric pump you can throw away the push rod.
No need to plug bushing, it has no oil hole to leak pressure.
Leave the pan vent, also need a vent on top, either the oil fill on the fuel pump stand or the oil fill on the 8BA manifold.

I just replaced a stock intake manifold with a new Offenhauser #1079 on a 59AB. The casting must be universal for the 8BA as well. Location is there for the vent to be machined. The stock fuel pump lays right on an intake runner. I carefully ground for clearance and used two fuel pump stand gaskets. This was in a 32 roadster with a Westcott body. I also had to mill the back of the manifold to clear the firewall.
The manifold comes with a carburetor adapter which needs to be port matched. It required a 4" spacer to clear the radiator hoses. I used 2-2" 4 hole spacers. These parts also needed touching up in the ports. Last of all I roll pin the adapter and spacers to stay properly aligned when installed.

Wow! Did you install an early or late intake gasket??
