i just sent out my 59ab to the rebuilder and if its n/g plan B i have a 50 8ba out of a pickup and would lke to insall it in my 41 coupe, the only issue i have is the fan is mounted higher on the 8BA compaired to the crank mounted one on the 59ab and would have upper hose clearence issues,i have seen this on a 40 ford and look like the guy used a smaller fan blade mounted to the stock 8ba fan pulley that has 8 mounting bolts,i want to use a machanical fan so this would be ideal, does anyone knoww what fan blade would mount to the original 8ba fan hub and work .thanks al

Why not use an electric fan? Marv

im running a 6v system, with gen ,i don't think a 6 volt fans would cool it,i may be wrong but i had a 6 volt fan on a different applacation and it would,nt cool beans,i prefer machanical fan if possible..

When running the 8BA style top mount distributor, the fan and pumps are spaced out further to the front, which can create a problem with the radiator. You may need to play with the spacing but one possibility is to use a generator mounted fan. The 41 rad has a relatively high top tank so this could work by using one of the earlier 4 blade fans that mount to the gen pulley by 4 bolts. This no doubt means changing the gen over to the 33-39 (std) type generator.

I fabricated an adapter to mount the 41 style fan onto my 8BA wide belt crankshaft pulley. Works great, I think I will patent it.

If you are talking rebuild, the late engine can be built using early cam and all the '41 or '42-8 front accessories including the '41 fan setup. Shorter, uses original bits, has a better distributor...
