There are a few threads on here relating to installation of the late flathead types in the 35 & 36 type vehicles. You can do a search by clicking on the search function and typing in a short string but it takes a while to find a string that will bring up what you're looking for. Since I've never done this swap, I can only relate from hearsay info from others. If the 8RT motor has the 10 inch Long type clutch, that would work to mate up to the early type transmission or maybe a later top shifter from say a 1939 car or later pick up if you want better synchronizers. Where you might have the most trouble would be in the front for fan mounting. The later 8RT has water pumps that should mate up with the original mounts but that would have to be verified. The truck pumps are wide single belt type so that would be an advantage. With the angled radiator that was common in that time frame, I just don't know if there is room for the fan plus the water pumps are longer than the originals pushing the belt set up farther forward too. You might be able to swap out the early generator with it's fan and find a way to make that work.

It is posible to convert the late motors to the early motors water pump and ignition drive set up but the cam would have to be changed to drive a crab type distributor to give the most room up front.

I hope this will help answer your question.
