78-7006 Cases

The leather seal you are looking for is available form Job Lot in NY, others may have also. You can replace the pin with the shank of a 1/4" drill cut to length.

Paul, thanks for input. I saw the leather seal in Job Lot cat., but no mention of washer that sits on top of leather to protect it from chafing by spring. I can make both and probably will. The pin I'm referring to is about 2-3" long and keeps the shift fork in alignment.

Mike: Something new every day! They do appear to be aftermarket, all of the Ford cases ( I have seen ) have the part number indented into the casting at the rear of the case just under the two holes. Do either of these cases have a vehicle serial number stamped above the inspection hole?

I have one of these cases as well.

I have two NOS transmission cases, Part Number 78-7006.. I'm not sure if they are FORD made, but they did come from a FORD dealership, years ago.
I have been using them to hold up shelves made from 6 foot long Model "A" Express truck running boards (The Waltons).
MIKE :)

I was getting out one of my body dollies today to reshape some metal and I noticed that the triangular logo looked familiar on the little box the dolly came in. The logo is for Fairmount Tool & Forging Div of Houdaille Industries, Inc. of Cleveland, OH. The triangle has the apex pointing down with a "T" in the middle and a smaller backwards "F" on the left. To the right of the "T" is another smaller "F" presumably to indicate FTF. The logo in your picture of the cases looks very much like that.

FoMoCo had a very long relationship with Houdaille and may have contracted them to make spare forgings.
