1971 mach 1 front bumper is rubber or their of. When i prime the bumper it cracks through the primer , cracks are all over bumper very hard to see till primed then wait a week crack , any ideas ppg an dupont don't have a clue thanks hdleaksoil
 
I don't know if this will help but I used Imron paint when I did mine. I didnt prime it, I just sanded it lightly and painted. good luck
 
Are you saying that the bumper has cracks in it or after you prime it, cracks develop? We used to use a flex agent in the paint so it would be pliable. I would image that you don't need to use primer, unless the topcoat requires it. If you need primer, you might also need a flex agent.
 
if the the rubber is cracked you will need to skin it with a repair product 3m makes them as well as others ck with your autobody supply store their is a german co. that makes a product like polyester putty for rubber bumpers finish's nice easy to sand
