I got this 1928 leather back from my inlays, in the family since new . A bunch of people worked on it through the years and when it trailer into my place had several boxes and cans of parts . Put the steering together as per les andrews got it installed oiled it up leaks bad ,I know grease is a no no, is their a seal at the frame where it leaks that I missed?

An O ring and a thin washer slipped over the sector where it mounts to the frame will solve the leak problem and you really don't have to modify anything. Brattons offers this O ring and washer for seventy cents. It doesn't get any easier or less expensive. A probable cause for the leak is that the outer sector bushing was probably installed backwards. The spiral oil groove isn't suppose to continue to the outside edge of the housing where it mounts to the frame. Still, the O ring and thin washer will stop the leak at the frame.

Jacks welcome, on the diagram you will see part number 1-Sector bushing if this fits to loose around part number 7-Sector you will have a oil leaking problem.
