Looking at installing 15 x 7 wheels with 4 inch backspacing on my 1951 ford f1.

Has anyone used wheels with these same specs? I want to make sure that they wont hit the fenders when making a turn.

Hi; use a long straight edge to measure spacing. Lots of post on this even magazine articles. Newc

It's not the "wheels" that would hit the fenders, but the mysterious oversize 'tires' you are attempting to install.??
What size tires?

Do you need to run 7" rims on the front? That's going to have a pretty wide tire. They came with 16", so the smaller diameter should help, but tire size is going to be crucial getting this to work. The fender opening on F-1 is pretty generous, but measure twice and buy once.

You mention that the wheels are 15x7. Just curious if they measure 7"
in "total width" or are they 7" wide "bead to bead" ?

I have been looking for a wheel that isn't as wide.

Only wheels I have found in a 15 or 16 inch diameter are 6 or 7 inches wide unless you get into a fairly expensive wheel.

I would like to know what other people are using for wheels as this is an area I know very little about.

Trying to stay fairly original with a smoothie wheel look.

Some late Dodge trucks have a 16 X7 wheel that has a 5 on 51/2 bolt circle. These work fine on some of the old trucks and the larger tire gives a boost to the rear gear ratio.

Rear is not an issue. I think he's concerned about a wider tire hitting the front fenders while turning. The stock 16" tires are around 4" wide I think.

I just measured a 7:00 x 16 Atlas tire.
It measured about 7" sidewall to sidewall, and about 4.75" across the tread.
