hi everyone i have a stupid question to ask. can one charge a 6volt positive ground battery while sill connected to the car??? and if i would want to boost it can one do so??? in my head i can't understand connecting a charger or battery positive to positive and negative to negative when one system is positive ground and other is negative ground. Could someone comment on that please

The charger doesn't care how the battery is hooked to the car, all it knows is "positive to positive" and negative to negative". Positive cable to positive post & negative cable to negative post. You can leave the battery hooked to the car while charging if there are no electrical issues in the system, or you can just unhook one cable while charging.

I'm no expert on the subject but when I have to jump a positive ground vehicle I connect the positive lead from the source to metal on the car to be jumped and the neg lead to the negative battery terminal- just make sure the cars aren't touching. When I have to charge a battery I disconnect it from the vehicle and charge the battery normally.

as a safety precaution, I would charge batt while it is disconnected.

when I ship a car, I also always disconnect the battery.

Hook red clamp on positive battery terminal, black on negative terminal, connected to the car or not. Battery doesn't care which side is grounded.
