6v Overdrive Relay?

I have a few RBM (manufacturer) O/D relays. How can I tell if they are 6v or 12v? I've seen some 12 volt's stamped 12V, however none of my spares are stamped. Does this mean they are 6v? My original 6v relay is not stamped. Thanks

Rbm? What's that meen? You talking the little relay on the firewall for the borgwarner overdrive?
I test the solenoids with a 6 volt battery with the tin cover off, a 6 volt solenoid will work with a 6 volt battery, a 12 volt solenoid either does nothing unless you push the rod with your finger, then it'll take hold, just. Or the rod sort of buzzes up and down like a tattoo gun.
Can The same test work on a relay? Will a 12 volt relay work properly on a 6 volt battery?
ps, the solenoids arnt normally marked 6 or 12 volt, so testing is the only way I know what I got.

RBM is the manufacturer for many electrical components on the older cars.
As a rule 12 volt OD solenoids are stamped 12 volts on the end bell, 6 volt units are not stamped.
I can't tell you for sure if the OD relay is marked 12 volt. As suggested testing will tell.

Thanks to everyone for the responses. My '50 is still 6v pos ground, so I'll test the relays with 6 volts and see if they'll work on 6 volts.

Might be an English v American thing, I think all English cars that used the borgwarner overdrive on them were 12 volt. The solenoids I have here are a mix of English and American, none of them are marked re volts, hence I test them.
Seems that the same test will work for relays.

As 42merc said, RBM was a manufacturer for many electrical components for early cars. The O/D is a Borg Warner, the solenoid and the relay were made by RBM and are 6 volt. I'm just wanting to figure out if the extra RBM relays I have are 6 volt or 12 volt. Thanks
