anyone have any insights, opinions, experiences involving a conversion from a 6v generator to a 6v alternator on a standard 1941 ford?

the car still retains its original 6v positive ground electrical system. i do not want to convert to a 12v system. the 6v system, excepting perhaps the generator, is perfectly fine for my purposes.

i'm suspecting that i may have a generator problem and rather than fuss with it, i'm wondering whether it might just be less expensive and/or involve less work to replace it with an alternator, as alternators do offer an advantage or two. originality is of no concern to me. getting it out on the road again and as expeditiously as possible, is. :)

I have a rebuilt 6v generator available for your '41. Bench tested, ready to install. $225 with core exchange + $35 shipping with insurance to a US address.
