6V alternator install

Does anyone have experience with replacing the 6v generator with a 6v alternator? Are there major wiring alterations, and where is a good place to buy one?
I would guess that the stock regulator would be eliminated, and some wiring would have to be modified.
I've installed a cooling fan and I'm afraid the current draw is going to exceed the charging capacity of my generator.

That is done all the time on Model A's. Might check on that forum. I know Nurex makes a sweet 6vt. alternator for the A's. It is a one wire with built in regulator. About $200 http://www.nurex.com/

If it is a one wire alt just put the battery wire from
the alt to the battery terminal on the reg. G.M.

The local alternator rebuild shop charges $55 for a rebuilt one.
