Does anyone know when in 1929 Ford made the change from the one piece frame over the doors to the two piece folding door frame like the 68B? Was it the same time they added the bead over the rear fenders like the later models?

Not a specific date

I looked at the data from the Cabriolet Club which lists the 68A car by firewall date and if they had the folding or solid irons. The cars with the solid irons had dates from 4/18/29 to 7/18/29. The ones with folding irons had dates from 5/2/29 to 11/5/29. However I did find that the Briggs Body Tag Number appears to be a better indicator. The body tag numbers for the non folding cars ranged from 2667 to 4786 (5 cars). The body tag numbers for the folding cars ranged from 5567 to 20830 (17 cars). So the cut off was somewhere around car #5000.

Thanks Bob, I have no body tag, but the gas tank is either a 8 or 9 for the month so I will assume that I can use the folding window top for my restoration.
