67 Mustang Brake Drum Change

I bought a 1967 Mustang. It has 4 bolt brake drums. I am putting a rear axle in that has a 5 bolt pattern. I therefore need to change the front brake drums to a 5 bolt pattern. Does anybody in Fordbarn land know what parts besides the drums need to be changed? Are there different sizes of drums or can I just swap drums only? Thanks for your help. This car will be a 390 with a top loader 4spd when I'm done. "Lord Willing".

The hubs need to be changed as well, that is where the four or five holes originate. If you plan to drive the car regularly, or with vigor, now is the time to step up to aftermarket disc brakes. A 390 MUstang may also need extra bracing to hold the torque and weight of the big engine. Research the Mustang groups to be safe.
Good luck!

IMO, I would use a front disc conversion no matter what your drive train choice is simply because it is a huge jump in technology. I know the kits are expensive but if you do some research you may be able to find the production cars these parts came from and rob a lot of the parts out of a junk yard somewhere.

It's been one hell of a long time since I've done that swap, but I'm thinking that the whole front suspension is different on all V-8 Mustangs. What you have is a 6 cyl front end with four lugs and it won't cut it with all the weight of an FE. You are going to need a-arms,(I'm pretty sure) springs, spindles, drag link, tie rod ends, hubs, bearings, the whole bit. As others have said, go to a disc brake set up. From the factory the 390 cars had 2 1/4" front shoes and they still didn't stop that great. The FE engine is one hell of a load on the front of that car and you can't half-*** this swap with the old 6 cylinder stuff and have the car drive right.
