65-66 Mustang Questions

What ohms is the '66 Mustang speaker? Was there just the one large speaker in the dash? I see some repops with two smaller speakers in the dash. Probably not correct. What is the correct one?
Where does the original radio pick up the power? My radio has a black wire on it.
Does the radio light turn on with the instrument lights?
What type and size screws hold the speaker grille to the top of the dash?
Sorry for all of the questions but the last Mustang I had was in 1966. I am not going to let on I remember much about it. Thanks for any help you can give me on these questions.

Hi Jim, The 65-66 original radio speaker is a single cone, oval shaped 4" by 10" and 8 ohms rating. Repos are available from Macs and many others. The radio dial light will only come on if the tail, park or headlights are on and then the radio is on as well. The radio works only if the ignition key is ON or on accessories position. The supply wiring plugs (black rubber female) for the radio power and dial light are already in the original car wiring harness and hanging behind the centre dash area. The supply wire is yellow/black which goes into a double black female plug with a black /red wire, and the dial light is blue/red. A good must have book is called "MUSTANG 1966 WIRING DIAGRAMS" available Macs or others for about $7.00. The speaker screws on my 66 are Phillips countersunk flat head. I think they are self tappers but not sure on that unless I remove one to check. Hope this helps you, Regards, Kevin.

Kevin, Hi
Thanks for answering all of my questions. You amaze me with your knowledge on these electrical things and lots of other old Ford stuff too. I can get on with installing this original radio with the help from my friends here and abroad. Take care and I'll be in touch. Thanks to all that replied.

When installing a new speaker on the 66 radio ( as the original was installed) should this be done from the top of the dash or from the bottom? What type hardware attaches the speaker to the dash?
The bracket on the rear stud of the radio attaches to what point on the dash?
