Looking to change the front of the tbird to disc brakes, does anyone know what year and model spindle I need. thanks, Paul

65 - 66 T-Bird is a bolt in. Make sure you get the adjustable regulator for the rear line. It is located on the rear side of spring/shock tower under the hood hinge. You will need 15" wheels to clear the rotors.

A simpler route will be to go after market. Still need the 15" wheels.

thanks Alan, I have a 79 ranchero that has the 14" wheels, I guess I was wondering if a spindle from something like that may fit and still work with the14" rims.

Sticking with 14" rims, trying to find oem spindle and brake parts to swap in from another model or year, with rotors large enough to effectively stop a car the size of a '64 T-Bird may be a real long search.

Times two.

and FYI, if you use oem 15" Ford wheels they need to be '65 or newer. '64 and older aren't shaped right on the back side to fit around disc calipers without modification, if at all. :(

I bought a 65 T-Bird Special Landau new in 65. The disc brakes on it were great. Changing pads was the easiest I have ever seen. Didn't even need to pull the caliper, just two small bolts, remove a shield, and pads pulled out from the top. Finding one might be hard though.

If you do the switch -- I have some ++ NEW ++ N.O.S. ++ Asbestos ++ Brake Pads & New Disc Brake Rotors (Plates only -- no Hubs)....

thanks everyone for the info. I went with the scarebird parts. everything went together great, only problem was the lower caliper bolt hits the lower A frame on full lock to lock turns. It stops well and straight, real improvement Paul
