'64 OD conversion

I have a '64 Fairlane 500 with a 3-spd on the column. I want to put in a 3-spd OD transmission. I have the rebuilt OD ****** and all the electrical and kick down components. My mechanic says I need a different ****** crossmember and a different (shortened) drive line due to the longer tail shaft on the OD transmission. I can find crossmembers for standard 3-spds and automatics but am having some difficulty finding the correct one.

Any body got one or ideas on where to get one?
 
I'm not familiar with your model car, but on some earlier Fords the trans mount was reversed front to rear to accommodate the OD. Not knowing your mechanic, he might not be aware of this. You can have your driveshaft cut and balanced at a driveline shop.
