64 Galaxie door panel clip alternatives

I am looking for an alternative way to anchor the door cards to the inner door sheet metal. When I try to press on the clip tip into the door anchor hole it dislodges from the panel or won't go into the hole. I want to use the hidden anchor system, but I am almost ready to use trim screws. very frustrating. And of course the door card is delaminating in the anchor point area.

Try putting a little white grease on the pin ends or a little in the depression around the hole on the door.

I remember those well. Sometimes you would go to pull off the door panel, and it had gotten wet and frail. The clips would stay in the door.

It's not very elegant, but I've used self adhesive Velcro on door panels more than once. I put it where the door cardboard is still good. I think what I had you used alcohol to clean the door and cardboard surface.

go to restoration hardware's web site you may find a a plastic clip that may work for you
