Oct 16th marks 63 years that the old 52 Mercury has been with us. I took it for a drive and video shoot yesterday. https://youtu.be/IdD68DwlIc0

A few little rust spots, but the old Merc is doing well, I wonder how many of todays computerized vehicles will las 63 years.

:D You are being generous with that comment. The rockers and floor on the Merc are more holes than metal in some places. I doubt many of us can fix much on the new vehicles and they will go for recycling before they get old. These old ones like the Merc are repairable as long as parts are still available.

Maybe his father bought the car used in 1959, just as my 1952 Mercury was built in 1952, my car has been with me for only fifteen years?

Thanks for the ride Ralph!! I always enjoy a tour of your farm and fields in the Merc....... Take Care....Mark

Thanks so much Ralph. I couldn't wipe the smile off my face watching you tool around your place in that family heirloom. While yes there IS some well earned rust in the rockers, I'd bet good money you enjoy driving that at least as much as the dude who picks up his newly resto-modded 'ride' at the hippest restoration shop featured on the latest motor channel. I know I like watching it more...

Thanks GB. I've enjoyed the h&!! out of the Merc for almost six years now. I have spent only time and energy plus a lot of rubbing compound and wax to maintain it's original paint, whats left of it. Primarily driven on gravel roads so I have little concern for dust and the odd stone chip. An expensive paint job and body work would raise the stress levels and take some of the fun away. My only concern is the original windshield getting a serious stone chip. If new windshields are available I imagine they are worth more than the rest of the car.
By the way, I learned to drive on a "jailbar" Ford truck so yours bring back memories.
