62 ford brakes

putting together a 62 galaxie. does the brake petal have a return spring? It has manual brakes and I switched to a mustang duel master cylinder. The car was in pieces when I bought it, so not sure. Also would like to know the length of the push rod. tks Melisa
 
There should be a spring around the shaft of the pedal mount. It does not feel very strong but does the job to pull the pedal back. The hydraulics push the master back to it's rest position.

Your push rod length is going to be a "custom" fit. Just make sure you have a small amount of clearance (slop) between it and the pedal when at rest.
 
The benefit to having the old master around is, just match up the rod length to the new master. Without that, the above advice is solid.
