My brother has a 61 starliner with power steering with the hyd.cyl,he wants to know if anyone has used some other kind of box with power steering built in.Thanks Randall
 
There have been many converted steering systems for these cars. My preference is to repair what was stock. The stock P/S is now more affordable to repair. My 55 has a stock P/s and it works great.
 
Ole Don is correct, but if you want to update Borgeson sells a kit to put their power box in your car. It is a bolt in istallation with respect to the steering linkage but you will have to modify the column as the stock 61 is integral with the steering box.

No 61 is the first year of the rag joint which would make it easier to install a Borgeson gear,but the column will still have to be shortened.I've thought about doing that to my 63 Galaxie the column doesn't shorten easily on a 63.
