i just picked up a 60 hp engine and it has a L87 cast on the bellhousing and a 6 cast in near those numbers.
it has 17 studs,sleeves, aluminum pistons and is an all cast block. i think it came from a 37 or 38 3/4 ton delivery truck.
the engine rebuild tag screwed to the belllhousing says,
"railway express agency inc". rebuilt august, 1948.
I never heard of a L87 number before.
what exactly is this???
