6 volt generator

I would assume that the regulator needs to be adjusted to control voltage output. An old Chilton's or Motors manual might show how to do it correctly.

All the leftover 6 volt gens were used in 12 volt systems - then set to 15 volts output.
(Just kidding).

It would be good if you tell us what vehicle you are testing this on. What meter are you testing your volts with and where are you connecting it to test. Are you seeing any amps charge on your ammeter ? The regulator has to match the generator as there are many different types. Regards, Kevin.

disconect the field wire & check schould have no charg.if you do field wire in gen is grounded.this can happen when field wire is remoed or installed.if ok check wire going from gen to regulator if ok reg is at fault try adjusting it
