6 volt electronic ignition

O K the 1282p6 Petronex is 6 volt pos ground. Now my 55 Ford with 272 cu in and original carb and this ignition should work fine RIGHT..Getting me all confused here guys....Dont take much..lol

Ford Coupe, Yes that is the correct Pertronix Ignitor (1282P6) for your 1955 Ford 272 with original carb and distributor. This unit really made my '55 start and run better.

Getting me all confused here guys....lol
I was just thinking the same thing. Guys think they are helping you but keep making suggestions that confuse the matter. Stick with the original question...

On last thing, when you get your Pertronix you may need to change your coil to a lower resistance coil. I think the link I posted suggests one of Pertronix Flame Thrower coils. Pertronix make a 6v one.

Good Luck

For a '55 with the original carb and load-o-matic distributor, use a Pertronix #1282P6 ignitor. That unit is for 6-volt positive ground system.
I just got one myself, but have not installed it yet.
