6 volt convertible pump (1954 ford)

I know you can run a 6 volt starter on 12 volts, can anyone confirm that a 6v convertible electric pump will work on 12v? Will it run too fast?
 
A six volt starter seems to turn a motor pretty fast, I would think the top pump would do the same, try it for just a second or two.
